Home Defence against German Invasion

In May 1940 when a German Invasion was thought highly probable a naval battalion was formed to defend and repulse any local invasion.
Dennis Byatt was in Section 15, 8 Platoon, 'B' Company, 'A' Battalion.
We created dug-outs, built sandbag defences and slept under canvas
and were issued with .303 rifles, a bayonet and a steel helmet.
