The function of the Association is to keep the 'Spirit' of Ganges alive through the re-uniting of class and shipmates at the Annual Reunion and at other Divisional and local events.

Membership of the Association is open to all personnel who were carried on the books of HMS Ganges, HMS St. George & HMS Bruce. i.e. Boys, H.O.s, Instructors, Ships Company, Officers, WRNS, QARNNS and Royal Marines. Membership now stands at 3,500 plus. Our members ages range from over 100 years young, to those stalwart members still serving in the RN. Although the majority are dispersed throughout the length and breadth of the British Isles, there are members in Canada, USA, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the Far East, as well as in many European countries outside the UK. Many have their own Divisions and hold local meetings and national reunions.

The membership is kept informed of events, past, present and future by means of our magazine the 'HMS Ganges Association Gazette' which is sent to members three times a year.

There is a slop room, raising funds for the museum, which can supply you with a wide range of Ganges and RN orientated high quality items including sweat shirts, ships crest lapel badges, books etc.

The HMS Ganges Association Museum on the Shotley foreshore displays artefacts and memorabilia of life at HMS Ganges from its inception to its closure in 1976. Manned by local ex Ganges volunteers, it is a most interesting display which the association supports in every way it can.

The association also supports the Sea Cadet Training Centre T.S. Ganges at Holyhead and the HMS Ganges Remembrance Garden project at Mylor near Falmouth.
Support for all the activities and services of the Association is provided by unpaid volunteers.
