Michael Robert Smith
I would be grateful if you would put a short note on the noticeboard for me. I have been searching for old classmates using a people finder CD Rom but have failed to find one particular old oppo. The details are as follows:-
Michael Robert Smith, originally from Frenchay in Bristol, joined with me on the 15th March 1955 at Ganges. From there in May 1956 we both went to HMS Murray based at Portland for 18 months then we split up and lost touch.
Mike's name somehow was missed off the list posted by Ian Doody last month.
I understand from Ian Doody that Mike joined Gloucestershire Constabulary after leaving the Andrew and is known to have served in some smaller stations around the county but Ian lost track of him over the years.
The Police Force apparently can not assist with locating him now.
I would be most grateful if anyone else out there can give me some idea of where I can find Mike, or if it is known that he has already crossed the dreaded bar I would still like to know so that I can stop searching for him.
My contact details are either by E-mail <mariahogg@blueyonder.co.uk> or to telephone me at any time on 01382 530176, or drop me a line to 3 Solway Gardens, Monifieth, Angus, DD5 4TR.
Many thanks, David Hogg (55) 24Aug2005
David Bruce Longstaff
My brother, David Bruce Longstaff trained at HMS Ganges in the early 1960s. I would love to know if anyone can remember him. Sadly he passed away in 1995. If anyone has any info I would be so grateful.

"VALKYRIE CUP"
A request from Jean Hallett seeking some Information regarding a rowing regatta held in Chatham 1959, it appears Mike was in the winning crew of the "VALKYRIE CUP" for which he won a silver Oar, she wonders if anyone can remember the event and the drink up afterwards,
it could have been while he was doing his PO course. Please post this for me and any replies to me, thanks. Regards to all. Joe Hawkwood [51] <Joehawk905@aol.com> 01Aug2005
