William (Bill ) Ian Tasker

I am trying to research my late brothers history whilst he was at HMS Ganges during 1950. He was William (Bill) Ian Tasker and his official number was C/JX 882782 and was training to be a telegraphist. I think he was in ANSON division, and was a very keen sportsman.
My nephew his son has asked me to try and collect the history of his fathers stay at the establishment. I believe he swam and boxed for the Navy, he was certainly in the polo (Swimming) team and we have medals obtained there for Hockey, Cricket, Football and of course Water Polo. I have seen a material emblem green in colour and a large A on it, 'A' for ANSON I would think.
Hoping to hear from anyone who can help.
My phone number is 01622 745285
Yours in anticipation.

Armed Forces Pension Motion

An Early Day Motion has been put down in the House by Colin Challen M.P. Which basically states that
"ALL Ex H.M. Forces be treated equally and receive a Pension for time served."
It would be appreciated if HMS Ganges Association members could contact their M.P.s' and get them to sign EDM 67.
If you only did 7/9/12/15 Years and left before 1975 you got NOUGHT. If you left after 1975 you got a Pension.
This fight is being led by the Armed Forces Pension Group.
Thank you

CRISES DO HAPPEN - The Royal Navy and Operation Musketeer, Suez 1956 21 November 06

Dear Sir,

We publish the above book this week. (Details are at www.navybooks.com)

We have had quite a lot of media interest in it -even though no one has seen a copy yet!

I am trying to track down a couple of ex RN or RM guys who were at Suez who now live in either the Portsmouth or Plymouth area so we can offer them for possible interview to the local BBC TV news and newspaper (if they are willing of course!) when the book is published.

Cheers
