The only information I have is on a note sent by the owner of the photo,
someone who lives in Dovercourt... The note says
"4th sailor from left is Edmund Hutchins Turner. Joined the Navy straight
from school at Shotley Barracks. Married Ada James 1922. Ralph Hutchins
Turner born Jan 1924 Gordon born dec 1925.
Edmund left Navy when the Admiralty decommissioned most of the fleet at the
start of the depression. Did casual work at Plymouth docks when available -
he was killed on the docks by a crane bucket which hit him and flung him
into the water. This was in 1932 when Gordon was 6 years old. His widow was
given £200 "compensation" and 10 shillings a week pension."
